ACUDAB Eco-Village was formed in 2017 just after the crisis started. Our Mission
To empower internally displaced persons through comprehensive programs in education, healthcare, economic development, and sustainable livelihoods, while preserving cultural identity and promoting peace-building initiatives.
A place for identifying, nurturing, and equipping Africa’s future leaders with experiences, insights, and tools of partnerships so that African-led solutions are developed as a response to the global crisis.
In early 2016 the Anglophone crisis started and waves of displaced women and children started arriving neiboring communities in the West, Adamawa, littoral and center regions. They have gone through near-death experiences, survived in the forest for weeks or months and lost their property when they had to abandon their villages. As they arrive in the towns, they do not have any means of subsistence and survive by begging. We provide a chance to regain what was lost. 14% of our participants are currently inside host communities in the West Region of Cameroon.
Displacement in the West Region of Cameroon entails putting additional strain on already poor hosting communities and the rise of vulnerability within the IDP population. Our challenge is how to define and implement longer-term support for the displaced in a context of evolving security (climate challenges) and humanitarian needs Food and how to achieve viable and sustainable re-integration processes for those IDPs who are un- able to go back home.
ACUDAB Eco-Village, a comprehensive resettlement for IDPs. This eco-village will strengthen participatory governance of natural resources, bring forth sustainable development, and ensure equal distribution of wealth within the community.
