We are a small community of about 24 adults and 12 children. We started as a co-housing project in a small village called Hasendorf, in Lower Austria near Vienna. However, some of our members are building up a CSA (community supportet agriculture) in our village. Furthermore, we are working on a mobility solution open to the whole municipality in order to provide environmentally friendly commuting options for those working in Vienna or other major cities nearby.
One major focus of our project is the realisation of an ecological lifestyle. We provide a broad variety of shared spaces such as co-working space, a seminar room, guest room, community kitchen, playroom for children, community living room, co-making space and some “crazier” rooms like a bathtub-room or a sharing-shop. Providing all those functions shared among the members, we can reduce our personal living space significantly.
From a technological standpoint, we have a very high eco-efficiency through passive-house standard, 210m2 of solar pannels, heating/cooling through ground heat system. We use wood as construction material where possible, insulate with cellulose and apply loam on many walls.
We strive for our own version of the GOOD LIFE (buen vivir) by sharing with others, reducing the superfluous and valuing the people, the good food and the environment around us.
