The gASTWERKe community is an intentional community of 40 people in the middle of Germany (near Kassel). We have a seminar house, an organic vegetable farm with huge greenhouses, a small Health Food store, a woodworking shop as well as homeopathy practice
We live in a commune, meaning that we share our salaries. We have a completely collectivized internal economy, with no private ownership of buildings, of the means of production or of motor vehicles. All income is pooled and each person takes out what she or he needs. There are no ready-made concepts for the building of new ways of living. The challenges are too complex. Our community is a living organism, constantly changing according to the needs of its members.
