The vision of Favela da Paz is to become a replicable model and education center for autonomy and non-violence.
Our project started more than 25 years ago in the slums of Jardim Ângela, by then declared by the UN as one of the most violent neighbourhoods in the world. What began as a music band, as a vehicle for a message of hope and non-violence, turned into the wide and holistic work under the umbrella of Favela da Paz.
Through solutions for water, food and energy autonomy, we offer examples for rebuilding the wealth and sovereignty of local communities, while detaching from a system based on the exploitation of the planet and its people.
Through art and culture, community building and peace education, we work to create a perspective stronger than violence and fear.
