We are an intentional community and nonprofit educational center located on eighty-seven acres of diverse forest ecosystems in the foothills of the Cascades. We currently have about 30 full-time residents, including adult members (ages 28-74) and 2 children (ages 1-7). We use consensus decision-making inspired by Sociocracy and practice Nonviolent Communication. We are committed to stewarding this land and building a culture of social and ecological resilience. Our courses specialize in permaculture, social forestry, and personal growth, and our internships provide intentional community immersion as well as skill-building in areas of administration, gardening, land stewardship, cooking, and site maintenance. We also offer employment opportunities in these areas and more.
Lost Valley is looking for six interns to join our intentional community to participate in a 12-week immersive learning opportunity.
This is your chance to learn and work alongside some of the Pacific Northwest’s finest system thinkers. This educational opportunity enables interns to observe the process, procedure, and our sociocracy-inspired governance systems that have allowed our community to flourish for over 30 years.
We require 18-20 hours of work per week with a commitment of three months in exchange for tent camping or single occupancy dormitory-style housing. The internship is an unpaid position that will begin in April (start date for some roles can be flexible).
If accepted into the internship program, you are temporarily joining our Meadowsong Ecovillage community. This gives you an opportunity to practice Nonviolent Communication and to study how the principles of Permaculture permeate all areas within the community.
