Conservation was and is the prime objective, with housing and living designed to minimise impact on the land. Community work parties are held in order to manage the land. (weeding, species regeneration, facilities maintenance)Houses are principally mud brick and owner built, with small gardens because of the low rainfall (500mm). Open days are occasionally held through environmental groups. No facilities for tourism.
