Sapney translates as dreams in Sanskrit and forms the base of a community of artists and dreamers living in the Auroville area. We are currently co-creating Dream Surfing Art Festival, which will be held on the site in December 2009. The festival will bring people to create art through workshops, events, music, documentary screenings, music, food, drink and much more. The community aims for people to share their skills as artists and co-creators inspiring and manifesting their dreams.
At Sapney, we have 6 structures built using natural materials and a community kitchen. We are currently aspiring to transform our community into a permaculture site. The aim is to become self sufficient in herbs and vegetables and provide a working model of alternative systems by the time of the festival.
We are happy to have people stay who are interested in getting more involved in the work we are doing on site or in Dream Surfing Festival.
