Veridian at County Farm is a developer-led, intentional eco-village community that is presently under construction in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a unique collaboration between THRIVE Collaborative, LLC and Avalon Housing, a non-profit 501(c)(3). Veridian is a beautiful 13.59 acre property. It will include over 250 housing units. The property is the site of the original County Poor Farm, dating back to 1836, and later home of the Washtenaw County Juvenile Detention center, razed in 2013.
Veridian at County Farm is nestled on County Farm Park with 130 acres of woods, trillium-lined trails, gardens and playgrounds. It is targeted to be one of the nation’s first mixed-income net zero energy communities. Avalon Housing is targeting Living Building Challenge net zero energy on their community building and THRIVE Collaborative is creating one the nation’s first Living Community Challenge Master Plans. It will be a 100% all-electric development, powered primarily by solar energy with battery storage, the community will have no natural gas lines, nor combustion appliances of any kind.
