As of December 2024, White Hawk Ecovillage is on a pause from accepting new households to our membership process. You may join our waitlist here.
Our community is growing through a ‘lot development’ model, which means that as each family is ready to begin, their home can be built and they can move in. The design of the homes may be chosen by the individual families, within certain green building parameters — we are not limited to a small number of pre-existing designs supplied by a developer.
As of Fall 2024, we have 18 of the planned total of 30 homes built, while several additional households are in the membership process and are planning to build soon or have begun. In the meantime, everyone who lives here has access to our beautiful 120 acres including forests, streams, the community garden, and other features.
White Hawk Vision Statement
White Hawk Ecovillage embraces principles of sustainability, ecological living, simplicity, and respect for all living things. Just as our homes are joined together in a circle surrounding the village center, we join together to support happiness and balance for individuals while benefiting the larger community in and beyond our own neighborhood.
Looking across the land, we see eco-friendly homes, a spacious common house, wind turbines, solar panels, forest and trails, ponds, community gardens, an orchard, a farm, and play spaces for all ages. We look forward to leisurely meals in the common house, sharing tools and resources, planting trees to expand the forest, growing organic fruits and vegetables, and gathering for community activities.
We are motivated by an awareness that we, individually and collectively, can make a difference through actions that reflect the values we hold dear: connection, peace, love and joy. As individuals, neighbors, and families, we flourish in a culture of trust and honesty, cooperation and kindness, inclusion and inspiration.

STEP 1: APPLICANT HOUSEHOLD: Applicant Households submit an application with a non-refundable $250 fee, after which they are added to the e-mail group, thus gaining access to certain documents, communications, and meeting minutes. During this time, they establish a closer relationship with current White Hawk residents. Visits are encouraged, as well as attending and contributing to monthly meetings, and participating in discussions with the intention of deciding whether White Hawk is a good fit.
STEP 2: ASSOCIATE HOUSEHOLD: The next step toward full membership is to submit a $750 associate household fee, once a household is certain they want to proceed with living here. This fee is refundable only if the application is rejected by the community. Associate Households can make proposals and participate in committees and other White Hawk projects. They can reserve a lot for one year by paying a $1,000 lot deposit and showing a mortgage pre-approval letter. They can submit building plans to the Infrastructure committee, and look forward to construction!
STEP 3: FULL MEMBERSHIP: When ready to build, one becomes an official co-owner of White Hawk by paying the $40,000 full lot lease fee (or complete purchase of home) and signing a lease.
Full members co-own White Hawk Ecovillage and have the same voting rights as every other full member.
