The transformational and eco communities of today grew out of the 1960s era that has been called postmodern—the gifts of multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, sensitivity, eco awareness. Some of the struggles include co-creating healthy hierarchies, effective decision making, attracting younger people, financial sustainability.
Ken Wilber outlines the significance of this rare dialogue offered as a free live broadcast to post modern communities around the world, one that focuses on growing up, waking up, cleaning up and showing up:
“The postmodern communities of transformation, including Findhorn, did two profoundly important things: in relative truth, they introduced an enchanted world instead of the disenchanted wasteland; and in ultimate Truth, they simply brought back ultimate Truth itself— they realized that it definitely does exist and that it is central to any sort of a life well lived. In short, they brought a Spirit of enchantment. And this changed everything, absolutely everything.
But the integral stage is now pretty strongly the leading edge of today’s evolution, and all evidence points to the fact that it is indeed a staggeringly monumental leap forward, the likes of which humanity has literally never seen before. There are simply no precedents for the stunning comprehensiveness and inclusiveness of integral awareness, and especially when it is combined with a genuine Waking-Up awareness, it promises to profoundly remake the world as we know it.”
About the speakers
Ken Wilber is often referred to as “the Einstein of consciousness”. Ken is the originator of the first truly comprehensive or integrative philosophy, aptly named Integral Theory – “one of the first believable world philosophies”, as Ken describes it. Incorporating cultural studies, anthropology, systems theory, developmental psychology, biology and spirituality, it has been applied in fields as diverse as sustainability, psychotherapy, spirituality, education, business, medicine, politics, sports and art.
Doshin Nelson Roshi, Head Abbot, Integral Zen, started studying Zen in the late 1960’s. It wasn’t until he met JunPo Kando Denis Kelly Roshi that the disciplined practice and eloquent simplicity of Zen suddenly took root and began to penetrate the dense clouds of his stubborn conditioned mind, revealing the ordinary openness of vast empty sky. Doshin is a poet, troublemaker and teacher – a Zen Master of no rank. He has been fully trained and is adequately skilled in this incredibly transformative practice.
