EarthArt Village (EAV) is organized as a cooperative association for land and building ownership, membership structure, decision-making (consensus) and infrastructure development (power, water, waste management, shared facilities, etc.) EAV will include full and part-time residents, non-resident members, and guests, to achieve a healthy diversity of involvement, and a balance of the necessary skills and talents for cooperative activities.
EAV owns 400 acres in the Northeast San Luis Valley. All residences, including the common infrastructure, are planned on the top 160 acres of the land. A preservation program to maintain the majority of land as open space, and for agricultural, recreational and wildlife use will be designed. The EarthArt Village land will not be sub-divided.
EarthArt Institute, a non-profit educational, scientific, charitable organization leases land and facilities from the cooperative and conducts educational programs and cultural activities within the living context of EarthArt Village.
