The Kalikalos Living-Learning Network is a group of three seasonal communities operating from May through October in the Pelion region of Greece. The Network derives its inspiration from a trio of eco-villages: Findhorn in N. Scotland, ZEGG in Germany and Auroville in India.
Our mission is primarily educational. We bring the practical tools and conceptual values of these ecovillages to a community building environment where our visitors and guests can put these into practice. Through our permaculture gardens, our community sharings, our workshops and retreats and our work and play together we create authentic community, the touchstone to a new culture of peace, partnership and sustainability.
Many of our staff and residents are volunteers who come for 2-14 weeks on a work exchange programme in the summer. Our emphasis is primarily on the ecovillage “social key”, meaning that we are experimenting with new ways of living, working and relating. No matter how sophisticated our alternative technology becomes, a change in consciousness underlies a true change in our culture toward one of peace, partnership, sharing of resources and sustainability.
