Right off the top I’d like to let you know who I am and what I bring to the table…
Hi, my Name is Dan Martin. In my late 20’s I quit an Aerospace career, got rid of my cookie-cutter suburban home, vehicles, boat, jet skies, burned my phone and belongings (and wads of cash) and left society. For the next 8yrs I lived off-the-grid, 100% self-sufficient, cut-off from society, not leaving my homestead once and not seeing or speaking with another person the entire time. There were no electricity or water lines; no internet, cell or emergency services; no clocks, alarm clocks, TVs or calendars; there wasn’t even a road to the property. I built my home from available materials and lived on caught rain water, hydroponically-grown produce and hand-raised livestock. I made my own ethanol, solar and wind power systems, alcohol still, furniture, dishes, pots and pans, even an indoor swimming pool, eliminating mortgages, bills, expenses or need for money or income of any kind.
I spent years preparing beforehand by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity throughout Latin America and by learning everything possible, receiving educations in Agriculture, Medicine and Engineering from various universities, while attending trade schools in heating/AC, electrical, and welding; as well as community workshops in woodworking, pottery, leather, glass working, and canning/preserving, and taking unpaid apprenticeships in masonry, construction, carpentry and metal working.
In 2010 I returned and moved to Mexico to form a non-profit that builds designed, small, self-sufficient communities, in order to provide immediate and long-term relief to victims of natural and man-made catastrophes/crises.
And having actually been ‘boots on the ground’ in places like Haiti after the earthquake and cholera outbreaks, New Orleans after Katrina, Japan for Fukushima, Detroit and Venezuela during their societal collapses and Mexico during the cartel wars, and with 3 published books and over 100,000hrs in the fi

To whom it may concern,
I have been researching and looking into various “intentional communities” throughout the US. I am particularly interested in the animal refuge in the Piney Woods of east Texas. I am originally from Dallas and lived several years in east Texas. In fact I graduated high school in Lufkin. I am interested in collecting more information about this community. My family can have monetary, physical and human assets, or any combination there of, to contribute to a sustainable off grid endeavor. I have an Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and have an established career in the ship building industry on the east coast. Due to current world events and unjust vaccination mandates, which will force me, and most likely my wife, out of our jobs and ability to sustain our family, my hand is being forced to consider other long term, sustainable solutions that would otherwise be just a dream. My wife is a contracted MRI technician for the Navy and I am a field engineer for a company that is also contracted by the Navy. My son is 17 and about to graduate high school with A GED. My daughter is 13. My father-in-law lives with us and we have an Australian Shepard, Chihuahua and a cat. The entirety of our family unit and assets that we can contribute to a community such as this may vary dependent upon how events unfold and circumstances change. I would like to initiate a dialogue and gather information about this community. I can be reached by cell phone provided below, or by email. I look forward to speaking with you. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I have been thinking of trying to find ways for myself, a single 45 y/o woman, to live farther away from a corrupt society. The vaccine mandate has made me want self-sufficiency even more. And I will probably eventually lose my job as a secretary over it. I wonder if it is financially possible for me? I live in PA currently.

Hi Susan!… I recently moved to Va… have been looking into (a thought for about a decade) starting an eco-village. You are the first to contact, as I will be drafting up it’s “intentions,” which would be based on traditional values and morals (unlike the immoral/unlawful/oppressive state of affairs of today… violation of our bodies!). Currently looking into a wood lot in Northern, Va…. and, certainly starting from the beginnings, DIY as not money is not, at the moment, available.
As you are somewhat nearby, curious if you are still interested in such a living situation, and your latest thoughts… have yet to find an appropriate discussion board… did you visit Martin’s place?
Thanks! Michael

Hi Dan, I am very interested as I am really perplexed about how I am living in this “society”. I have yet to find a passion for a “job” or “career” and I’m wanting to learn and integrate some of my skills to live off the land and connect with nature. I do not have any close relationships with family or friends and I feel like I could be spending my time more efficiently than just collecting a paycheck. Would love some more information and even come visit. Thank you for what you are doing and I look forward to hearing from you.

I am interested.
I hope to hear back from you.

I can say this. I had been finding, wondering, and trying to what is for me, you see, about 5 years I found that my wife had someone else. I had my business for 20 years, I had a very good contractor/services. I had been doing these things over 20yr and doing things like carpenter, plumbing, elec I NO WHAT I WANT NOW, I have been ALONE 5 years and I really mean alone, wife gone, friends gone, and family gone. I have been wanting something like this from over 5 years.

The possibility of a pro-social intentional community is a reason to smile. I grow things, cook, learning to forage, would like to plant a food / useful things forest.
I can crochet and sew a little too.
When is a good time to visit? Should I bring bedding material? What do you recommend for a one or two week visit?
Love love love the animals and sweet people.

GOOD MORNING!!! My name is TRUTH (real name- changed it legally, in 2007!) ERDELJAN. This is EXACTLY what I am looking for!!! I am a very Earthy, Spiritual, multi-talented, Heart-Centered, Human Being. I am simply done with ‘The Rat Race.” Trading my precious Time and Energy for money will no longer work, for me…. (If I am 100% honest, it never really did!)
I am service-oriented, love Mother Earth, and ALL her creatures, single, and ready to actually LIVE A REAL LIFE!! I Teach Yoga, Pilates, and Meditation/Breathing Techniques. I have studied Health and Fitness/WELLNESS/Nutrition, my whole Life.!! (I could be The Communal Healer!!!). I am also very fit, and would help build, repair, and nurture anything, or anyONE.
I would like to come and visit your place, for at least a month. (Just me and my fantastic, Senior Service Dog, Ace…) Ready and willing to work in any capacity, for my “working visit.” I have no money, and not much belongings. This would actually be an “off-the-grid-dream-some-true!” All I still have is my car, my cell phone, and my lil laptop!! (Is there reception/Wi-Fi, there? If not, no biggie- just need to know!!).
If all goes well, Ace and Truth (I am FEMALE, btw!!) will be your new Community Members. I would prefer Oregon, or Northern California, but your East Texas place looks lovely… PLEASE get back to me, ASAP!!! Ready to start LIVING!!!
Always Sincerely, Truth
