Description of Challenge
Organic and local producers have difficulty achieving competitiveness in big urban markets. No access to fresh, seasonal and organic produce by people living in the city.Solution
To empower local Palestinian farmers, Farmers markets are set up to provide a platform for local organic farmers to have a direct connection with urban consumers living in the city, to ensure that local produce is being sold and promoted in the cities of the West Bank.
By opening weekly farmers’ market, conscious consumers, who value the quality and source of food they eat, have the perfect spot to meet local producers and buy their fresh seasonal products. This empowers the organic producers to invest more time and money in their land and livestock and be able to ensure that the products they produce are being sold at a good price to ensure their economic sustainability.
At the same time, urban dwellers are now satisfied to be able to buy local organic produce in the centre of their working spaces and homes. Creating that model of partnership between producer and consumer is revolutionizing the way people think about food sovereignty and making healthy and informed food choices.
