To gain skills beneficial to sustainable food productionTo receive guidance and tuition in setting up an aquaponics food production system
Solution
The Bristol Fish Project is a community-supported aquaponics farm in Bristol established to explore and promote the commercial viability of community-supported aquaponics. They have set up training courses with the expressed aims:
1) To make aquaponics accessible
2) To enable participants to overcome specific production issues through access to specific information and expert guidance
3) To enable participants to realise true product value, by taking a systems approach focusing on the entire production cycle and determining the best options for system set up, diversification and sustainability
4) To train entry level practitioners in a holistic manner, in response to current challenges to the socioeconomic sustainability of the aquaculture industry in Europe
The course are of the highest quality and provide a good framework for someone wanting to set up a system of their own or train in the basics to run an aquaponic system. The link below gives further information
