Hortus Cyrenaicus

Respecting the Earth and the People

Frank is trying to build a holistic autarchic farm / eco-village where he, his family, friends and some "soul-brothers & sisters" can live in peace and harmony with the nature and themselves.

Frank Neumann is a private person, who is having a vision for more than twenty years, to create a place that is dedicated to the nature and a natural living, being independent from Water and Electricity supply and producing natural fruits, vegetables and some livestock products. Working in education and training in about forty countries for nearly thirty years being interested to learn about other cultures and ethnics and support young people in their way of achieving education and training that may help them to make their living…
In 2021, he quit his job and became a “pensioner” in Tanzania, where his main center of residence was/is located. As pensioner, he is following some projects that he is personally interested in and does spend his time and his money to realize his dream together with family and friends.
End 2021, the Hortus Cyrenaicus “was born”. The idea of having a farm that allows to keep the distance to policy makers and other unpleasant people, he was living without TV for more than three years already and enjoying the life as it comes…
The implementation of the Hortus Cyrenaicus as an ecovillage or as a set of ecovillage projects came up recently, when it became clear, that three, four, five people are not enough to keep the farm running. The idea to open the projects, first of all by introducing eco-tourism in a special environment. He ordered Yourtas from Kyrgyzstan which should have been installed in May 2022 already, but administrative barriers keep the process delayed, unfortunately. The Hortus shall have a range of buildings in natural conditions, like the yourtas, wood houses, clay houses etc.
There are several projects already and every day new ideas are raising. In order to have a kind of holistic approach with the Hortus Cyrenaicus, the idea was to enlarge the land scape to about 10 ha and invite more interested people to join and taking over some of the projects.
In the coming two years, Frank would be enlighten if his dream could be realized and the farm is fully operative. Concentrating on some fruit processing’s, marketing of the products and doing Music as the main purpose of life while enjoying the paradise atmosphere in the Greek mountains with his joining family members, friends and supporters…

Primary interests: finding support, tourists, purchasers of natural products and residents
