El periodo de cosecha se ha fraccionado bastante, por lo que se pudo observar plantas con frutos ya maduros – verdes y floreciendo al mismo tiempo. Generalmente se prefiere que la floración se concentre, así la cosecha también se concentrara… A la fecha hemos realizado 4 recogidas y pienso faltaran 2 para completar el proceso. Se ha establecido que la floración del café es inducida por estrés hídrico alternado por un periodo lluvioso… La floración en el 2015 fue tan errática como el clima. Manejo de la Cosecha La calidad del café está muy relacionada con el manejo al momento de cosecharlo Esta es la primera cosecha que manejamos en la Aldea y ha permitido identificar como podremos ir mejorando la calidad: 1. Se identificaron áreas con muchas plantas enfermas de fumagina que necesitan un manejo de la sombra o necesitan ser reanimadas con poda. 2. Hay que enfatizar en cosechar solo granos maduros (separar los verdes). 3. Despulpar inmediatamente después de la cosecha. 4. Mejorar las condiciones de lavado 5. En la actualidad multiplicamos microorganismos eficientes locales para aplicarlos en forma de té al suelo y a las plantas. 6. Se comienza a Identificar la vegetación (no agresiva) la que coopera con el establecimiento del colchón, debajo de la sombra. 7. Siembra de guineos en las áreas muy soleadas. En las próximas semanas tendremos a la venta parte del café cosechado, deseando que lo disfruten. Esperando que en el 2016 llueva mucho más café en la Ecoaldea, si es que el clima lo permite.

Este verano organizamos el segundo campamento de Avalon, un aprendizaje para jóvenes ubicado en una hermosa área natural situada a los pies de los Pirineos españoles. Los dirige un equipo experimentado de guías de deportes de montaña, educadores y profesores de sostenibilidad e inglés. Estos campamentos, repletos de acción, ofrecen una gran variedad de actividades al aire libre (escalada, barranquismo, senderismo y tiro con arco), actividades artísticas (fotografía, música, danza y escultura) y experiencias para fomentar las habilidades de desarrollo de la comunidad, como son trabajar en equipo, expresar pensamientos, comunicarse con diferentes culturas, construir con materiales naturales y afrontar nuevos retos. Inspirado en el Programa Internacional de Gaia Education, AVALON Sustainability School ofrece un tiempo y un lugar para el intercambio intercultural, compartir valores, aprender nuevas habilidades y divertirse. Los participantes forman parte de un grupo pionero de educación para la sostenibilidad. Además, para los jóvenes que no tengan el inglés como lengua propia, los campamentos se convierten en una oportunidad única de hacer inmersión en la práctica de esta lengua. INCUBADORA DE ECOALDEAS Jornadas de Formación Ecoaldeana dirigidas a individuos, grupos, comunidades y otros colectivos en la comunidad de la Base, Girona. Desde el 14 al 23 de Junio 2013 Las jornadas tienen como principal objetivo dar a conocer el proyecto de la “Incubadora”, diseñado para atender a la creciente demanda de formación e información sobre el universo ecoaldeano, la autogestión rural o las comunidades. Dirigida principalmente hacia grupos en formación, o con algo de historia a sus espaldas, pero también para individuos que quieran aprender a sentar las bases de una actividad próspera y duradera. Se trata también de brindar un espacio para que dichos grupos puedan convivir por primera vez en una inmersión comunitaria virtual, una especie de “simulador de vuelo”, tomando posesión de nuestro espacio como si fuera ya el suyo en realidad. Desde un primer momento habrá que ir aprendiendo cómo decidir todos las cuestiones del cotidiano convivir… Una invitación a todas las personas que se sientan atraídas por estilos de vida alternativos, para jugar juntas, bailar, compartir, para volar alto pero también para saber cómo se aterrizan los proyectos. Setting. VerdEnergia Pacifica is situated in the mountainous region of Puriscal, Costa Rica. While the Puriscal area is largely deforested, we have worked hard to reforest our corner of the neighborhood and are happily situated in a lush jungle oasis with fresh spring water, lots of fruit trees and a few humble waterfalls. Our area is largely untouched by tourism and our local community embodies a true Costa Rican campo environment. Students have access to our facilities, including a yoga/dance studio, community library and a spring-fed swimming pool. Pricing. Course starts at $1775. A non-refundable $400 deposit is due upon your registration (this is not an additional fee). The rest is paid upon arrival in cash.
