The community of Uchanchi is part of the 34 rural communities of the parish of San Andrés, located northeast of the Guano canton, in the province of Chimborazo. It has legal personality according to records of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP) with Ministerial Agreement 140 dated February 8, 1938; its around 940 inhabitants are mostly mestizo and the average annual temperature is 11.19 °C. It is made up of 4 neighborhoods: La Merced, La Libertad, El Mirador and the Central Neighborhood.

Among the economic activities of the community, the exploitation of minor species such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and pigs stands out, as well as the cultivation of corn, peas, beans, quinoa and.
