Hågaby is an ecovillage with around 250 people in a rural area next to the city of Uppsala. There are a lot of self-employed people living here and a Steiner school, three preschools, and a center for holistic medicine. There is a mix of owning and renting apartments and some houses. Not everyone that lives in the area is engaged in the village, but the village has a lot of values in the structures. This allows people to both live and work in the village, and it has good opportunities for social interactions.
We have a shop for ecological food and clothes, an ecological hairdresser, a vintage shop and a cultural center with a café, lunch and really good music every Sunday.
The area has good opportunities for cropping and recreation in the forest. There are a couple of farmers around and one of them produces local meat from sheep.
At the Steiner school, we have a bigger cropping project to serve the school, where neighbors also participate. There are also groups of people that are cropping together.
There are limitations in how to come and live here. There is a queue of twenty years for the apartment buildings and there are high prices for housing. Yet we don’t have a system for volunteers.

Hello !
I’m actually volunteering in Mundekulla’s Ecovillage and would like to come and visit Hågaby.
Would it be possible ? And if yes, with who could I speak ?
Have a great day 😀
