Our community is rooted in the heart of Lira District, Northern Uganda, a region that has endured decades of conflict, poverty, and environmental degradation. In response to the challenges faced by our people especially youth and women affected by displacement, food insecurity, and climate change—we came together under Purewish Foundation Uganda to create a regenerative, community-led model of transformation and resilience.
We began our journey by identifying degraded lands and marginalized communities in need of restoration and empowerment. Through a combination of permaculture, agroforestry, vocational skills, and community education, we are regenerating both land and livelihoods.
Our guiding principles are sustainability, inclusion, and self-reliance. We believe in working with nature to restore soils, improve food production, and rebuild local ecosystems. We integrate indigenous knowledge, promote gender equality, and ensure that women and youth are at the forefront of our work. Our agroecological practices, seed-saving efforts, and tree-planting initiatives are complemented by social cohesion programs addressing education, health, and conflict resolution.
We aspire to become a living learning center where communities across Uganda and Africa can witness the possibilities of regenerative development in a post-conflict context. Our dream is to create a thriving, self-sustaining ecovillage model where each seed sown is a symbol of hope, resilience, and renewal.
Together, we are building not just farms, but futures—grounded in ecological restoration, community empowerment, and lasting peace.
