We are a group of Mexican friends living in the jungle of Yucatán, we have been working since 2015 on a piece of land inside the Mayan jungle. We have built and developed an Agroecology, Arts, and Crafts Community Center in which we are looking forward to exchanging all types of knowledge and practices about permaculture, beekeeping, birdwatching, waste management, eco-building, agroforestry, and arts, through workshops.
Based on permaculture design principles, we are working on the improvement of the watering system and the optimal use of water, in the regeneration and improvement of soil for our vegetable gardens and crops, and in the conservation of species with cultural and ecological importance.
With the guidance of our Mayan friends from Sotuta in the use of traditional technics and 85% of local natural material, we built the initial infrastructure which enables us to inhabit the place soon for receiving volunteers, collaborators, specialists, and visitors from nearby local communities.
Practicing agroecological techniques we have established several zones for self-supply vegetable gardens and fruit forests 100% organic and agrochemical free. We continually work on soil fertility, creating organic fertilizers through the production of compost, worm compost, and biofertilizers. We put into practice the Zero Waste Management philosophy.
We organized workshops for the kids, teenagers, and women of Sotuta town about environmental education, dancing, slackline, arts, weave & embroidery. We have received around 400 volunteers from different countries.
We want to show that it is possible to satisfy our needs without overusing resources, in order to achieve a high level of self-sufficiency, within a collaborative work and resilient adaptation.
We have a volunteer program=COLLABORATIVE STAYS (min. 1 or 2 months, since you will have to fulfill specific functions with a high level of responsibility), we receive VISITS and we offer AGROECOLOGY IMMERSIONS (2 weeks practices).
Membership & Visitors

- Open to new members
- Open to visitors
We receive VISITORS all year. We offer guided tours, we like to receive groups of people interested in knowing our project. The visit includes a tour in the ecovillage, lunch, food and some sensory experience or workshop depending on the interests of the group.
We offer AGROECOLOGY IMMERSION, that are 2-week practices on different areas, we are currently working and different themes depending on the season of the year. Write to us to receive the complete information!
We also have a permanent volunteer program = COLLABORATIVE STAYS. It is important that you have availability of time, 1 or 2 months minimum, since you will have to fulfill specific functions with a high level of responsibility. We exchange food and accommodation for your work :)
The positions of the Collaborative Stays are:
* Kitchen - 5 hours per day, from Monday to Friday.
* Driving and Waste Management - 3 hours per day, from Monday to Saturdays (the schedule depends on the daily needs).
* Host for residents and visitors - 4 hours per day, from Monday to Saturday.
We are interested in receiving people with initiative and willingness to perform physical work and collaborate in a group. It is very important to maintain respect for all people and the environment, as well as help with the daily work.
We are also open to receive NEW MEMBERS. For this, it is necessary that you come first to an Agroecology Immersion, then stay in a Collaborative Stay so we can get to know each other and see how we feel working and living all together. It is important that you stay a long time before being a member cause living in the jungle is a big challenge.
Zero Waste
In this community we seek the recycling, reuse and non-generation of solid waste. For this reason we ask you to avoid bringing objects that they easily become junk.
