This is not an ecovillage in the conventional sense. No consensus circle, no shared spiritual practice, no wellness program. What exists here is a working off-grid homestead in a forested valley in central Slovakia, built from nothing by one person, guided by one conviction: the growth trajectory of the last two centuries is physically finished, and the only coherent response is a completely restructured life.
The growth curve since the industrial revolution is inverting. Now. Already. Not tomorrow. Not because of politics or ideology, but because of physics. Resource depletion, extraction decline, biodiversity collapse, climate change and demographic pressure are converging constraints that don’t negotiate and don’t wait. Understanding this should be, by far, the top priority of anyone alive today; because these physical realities do structure and define our existence whether we are aware of them or not. Ignoring them only makes you ignorant, unprepared… and dangerous.
What exists:
- 1000+ fruit trees planted and grafted
- Goats, sheep, bees, chickens, dogs, cats
- Wood heat, rainwater collection, no toilet paper, saving all kinds of resources everyday
- Productive gardens and greenhouse
- Ongoing construction: walipini greenhouse, A-frame cabin, root cellar, semi-buried house
What this place is for: People who have understood (not just intellectually, but in their daily choices) that degrowth is not a political option but a physical inevitability. People willing to stay, not visit. No gap year mindset, no two-week summer experience.
I am primarily looking for a life partner: someone to build this with long-term, who finds meaning in daily physical work, honest conversation, and genuine quiet. Long-term volunteers with serious intentions are also welcome.
No veganism as fixed ethical position, no spiritual frameworks, no woke ideology; only pragmatism, radicalism, simplicity, and (true) kindness, in a world of freaks.
