ECG Foundation works with farmers, women, youth and schools in rural communities. Eco-Clean Ghana Foundation is located in the upper west region of Ghana, Wa-Bamahu.
ECG Foundation partner with stakeholders and organizations that promote waste education such as Ghana zoomlion company, urban waste, municipal assemblies, Ghana education service, Ghana health services and other local and international partners in turning the spiral of handling waste by providing necessary resources such as education on waste management to the general public, distribution of dust bins, forming waste management clubs in schools, collecting both plastics and degradable waste for recycling. Empowering women, girls and youth into generating income from waste.
ECG Foundation partners with other like-minded organizations to revive and establish environmental school clubs in schools in Ghana and support students with school bags made from plastics. Students of this club's mental capacity is built in seeing waste as a resource as in the permaculture principle as “No Waste, output of something can become an input of other” Students practicalize the recycling of plastic waste into volleyball nets, chairs, beds etc. Permaculture gardens are established in these schools to recycle their degradable waste into compost for their perma-gardens.
Women, girls and youth are empowered in producing cleaning detergents (Liquid soap, shower gel, hand sanitizer and bar soaps) for sale. Targets are also trained to stitch plastics into bags which are supplied to schools and some sold in the market. Mushroom production training is also organized for these targets to produce and sell in the market to improve their livelihood. As part of ECG Foundation financial sustainability initiatives, it ensures there is a sustainable market for its livelihood empowerment activities.
ECG Foundation trains farmer groups on turning their degradable waste into compost, serving as an organic fertilizer for their organic farming. And advocate and train women on home gardening using permaculture farming techniques.
