Our ecovillage is a non-profit housing development that brings together people with similar interests and ecological awareness to create a village in harmony with the surrounding nature. It is a community of people driven by the same ideology who come together according to the principle of equity among all, in an organized system of good neighbourliness.
Located in a mountain maple grove in the province of Quebec, Canada, the ecovillage includes 12 private residences and a common pavilion (to come). The land was purchased in 2011 and the 1 km road was fully completed in spring 2012. The construction of the first house began in 2013, and others followed in subsequent years. By the end of 2019, the construction of the 8th house will be almost completed.
There will soon be 14 permanent residents at the ecovillage and in addition, the group also includes four “active members” (non-owners) who assume responsibilities and take part in various activities, as well as four children.

Recently read your article on how you got started with Terredelareunion ecovillage. Found it encouraging and wanted to show some others but have been unable to locate it again. I was on the GEN website. I am really interested in starting and being apart of an ecovillage/ intentional community in Eastern Ontario west of Cornwall. Would apreciate any input.
Thanks, Dale Bequette

Hi there, my mife and I have 4 kids and we’ve been looking at changing our lives in a big way. Since we started looking at buying a little farm/homestead our extended family have told us they would like to join forces. This includes my older brother with his wife and 2 kids, my younger sister with her husband and 2 kids and potentially my younger brother and my mom. I would love to talk to someone about how to get a project like yours started. Do we buy land and divide it? Do we buy a “pourvoirie”? How does all of this work at the bank? We all own a house so for all of this to come together will take planning and timing it is our biggest challenge. I would love get some guidance to help me on this project. Thank you so much for you time and I hope to hear back from you soon.
